Until my heart seized at the
sight of the caller ID, until my voice betrayed me as I greeted the
nurse, I hadn’t realized how on-edge I've been. How heavy I've felt. How I’ve been
holding my breath for four days.
“Good news, Amy. All three
moles were completely benign.”
I could fly right out my front
door.
(Hey, hypochondria, I see you hiding there. Why don’t you go ahead and take a week or two off? I’ll be here when you get back.)
Amy, I love you. Please keep at this; I think your writing is excellent.
ReplyDeleteYes, benign is a happy word!
ReplyDeleteYay! I've had many a weird mole removed myself. So unpleasant. Benign is good.
ReplyDeleteI am the queen of mole removal. Not fun. I feel your pain and hypochondria.
