Relief

Until my heart seized at the sight of the caller ID, until my voice betrayed me as I greeted the nurse, I hadn’t realized how on-edge I've been. How heavy I've felt. How I’ve been holding my breath for four days.

“Good news, Amy. All three moles were completely benign.”

I could fly right out my front door.

(Hey, hypochondria, I see you hiding there. Why don’t you go ahead and take a week or two off? I’ll be here when you get back.)

  3. Yay! I've had many a weird mole removed myself. So unpleasant. Benign is good.
